Duncan Macphail was a commercial photographer in Victoria from the late 1930’s to the early 1950’s. In 1970 he donated many of his photographic files to the BC Provincial Archives.

The Duncan Macphail collection in the BC Archives includes many interesting photographs of Victoria during the period from the late 1930’s to the early 1950’s.

Each month we feature an historic Duncan Macphail photograph along with a photograph of the same scene today. Our Duncan Macphail photo for this month is a 1945 image of 1600-1602 Quadra Street, then the First Baptist Church.
