A Brief History of 1710-1714 Government Street

1710-1714 Government Street was built in 1897 by architect Thomas Hooper for Chan Tong Yue and Chan Tong Ork of the On Hing & Brothers Company,

On Hing & Brothers Company was a major property owner in Victoria’s Chinatown during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. On Hing Brothers also built and owned the nearby building at 546-552 Fisgard Street.

1710-1714 Government Street is listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places as the On Hing Brothers Building.
