207 Government Street – Emily Carr House National Historic Site of Canada

 

This City of Victoria Heritage Building at 207 Government Street was built circa 1863 by architects John Wright and George H. Saunders for Richard Carr, who operated a wholesale import business at 1107 Wharf Street.

Richard Carr’s daughter Emily Carr became a renowned Canadian artist and author and this house is now commemorated as a National Historic Site under the name Emily Carr House National Historic Site of Canada.
