Historic Victoria Advertisements

Automobile & Transportation – 1940-1949

As part of our series on Historic Victoria Advertisements, Automobiles & Transportation, 1940-1949, here is a Firestone Tire advertisement from 1946. Notice the “Tire Rationing Removed” in the upper right corner. Tires had been rationed during World War II (1939-1945).

None of the dealers mentioned at the bottom of the advertisement – Thomas Plimley Ltd., 971 Yates Street; Boultbee (Victoria) Ltd, 1100 Yates Street; Jameson Motors, 740 Broughton Street – are still in business although some traces of their buildings remain.
