Bastion Square

18-26 Bastion Square

18-26 Bastion Square was built in 1888 for hotelier Thomas Burnes. It was designed by architect John Teague.

In its day, this building was one of Victoria’s best hotels. It backed onto another hotel Thomas Burnes owned on Yates Street, on the present site of the Pither & Leiser Building at 535 Yates Street.
