As part of our series on Historic Victoria Advertisements, Businesses, here is a 1937 advertisement for Heaney’s, a moving and storage company then located at 1225-1229 Wharf Street and which had been in business in Victoria since 1890.
This advertisement is indicative of the change in the Wharf Street area over the decades. This area is now a retail and entertainment area but from the 1920’s to the 1970’s it was light industrial, home to several moving companies like Heaney’s and Dowell’s.

Heaney’s was located at 1225-1229 Wharf Street, which is now occupied by retail stores and restaurants.
