This advertisement is particularly interesting in that it shows the transition of the long established William Mable Carriage Making business into an automobile service business, in this case automobile body work.

Dupont Duco was developed by Dupont and General Motors in 1923 as a durable, quick drying and relatively inexpensive exterior lacquer for automobiles and other machinery.

Here are some websites with more information about Dupont Duco:

The building William Mable built for his Mable Carriage Works business in 1908 is still standing at 713-715 Johnson Street. It was designed by Victoria architects Thomas Hooper and C. Elwood watkins.
