It is now home to Rebar, a popular downtown restaurant.
At the time this building was built this area was home to many law firms because the building across Langley Street at 28 Bastion Square was the Law Courts.
50-56 Bastion Square is legally consolidated with the adjacent building to the east at 1200 Government Street, built in 1897 for the Bank of Montreal by architect Francis Rattenbury.
