Historic Victoria Advertisements
Buildings

As part of our series on Historic Victoria Advertisements, Buildings, here is a 1910 advertisement from Pemberton & Son for rental of office space in the then new Pemberton Building, now the Yarrow Building.

This advertisement is particularly interesting because it shows a photograph of the Pemberton Building (now the Yarrow Building), under construction in 1910. The photograph is looking north west from the corner of Broad Street and Broughton Street.

The Pemberton Building, (now the Yarrow Building), is listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places. It was designed by architect George Charles Mesher, who also designed two other historic downtown Victoria building: the Sayward Building and the former Metropolis Hotel.
