The Weiler Building

Architectural historians refer to this landmark building at 921 Government Street / 609 Broughton Street as the Weiler Brothers Building or simply the Weiler Building.

The Weiler Building was built in 1899 by architect Thomas Sorby for Weiler Brothers, which used the building as a department store.

It is now retail space on the main floor with office space on the upper floors.

The Weiler Building is listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places. It is now government offices.

A Brief History of the Weiler Building, 921 Government Street / 609 Broughton Street

The Weiler Building was built in 1899 by architect Thomas Sorby for the Weiler brothers, who used it as Weiler Brothers Ltd., one of Victoria’s first department stores.

It is now government offices.

The Weiler family also built two other nearby historic buildings: 1005-1009 Broad Street and 1000-1012 Douglas Street.
