A Brief History of the Carnegie Building, 1312 Blanshard Street

The Carnegie Building at 1312 Blanshard Street was built in 1950 as an addition to the original Carnegie Library at 794 Yates Street.

When the Greater Victoria Public Library moved to 735 Broughton Street in 1979, the former library buildings were put up for sale by the City of Victoria and were purchased by a credit union, which used them as its Victoria corporate headquarters.

It is currently an office building catering primarily to medical and dental offices.
