Pemberton Road

931 Pemberton Road

931 Pemberton Road was built in 1911-1912 for Thomas Cusack (1868-1925), who owned the Cusack Printing Company at 625 Courtney Street.

We are not sure which architect(s) designed this house but we think it is possible that it was designed by Thomas Hooper and/or C. Elwood Watkins, who had done other architectural work for Thomas Cusack and members of his family.  Thomas Hooper and C. Elwood Watkins had designed Thomas Cusack’s business premises at 625 Courtney Street in 1911 and, in 1906, had designed and built 1202 Fort Street for Dr. Joseph Gibbs and his wife Eleanor Gibbs (nee Cusack), who was Thomas Cusack’s sister.
