This two storey brick commercial building was built in 1899, at an estimated construction cost of $7,200, by architect Thomas Hooper for D.E. Campbell and Alexander McCandless, who used it as a commercial building.

It has always been a commercial building with stores on the street level and, typically, offices upstairs. In the 1930’s the upstairs housed a brothel.
